Sirius-XM Getting Back into Fantasy
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010Anyone listening to XM radio channel 175 or Sirius 210 tonight between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET will hear RotoWire’s Jeff Erickson and Chris Liss previewing the fantasy baseball season. Apparently it’s not a one-time thing.
FSB.com has learned that, starting Monday, the RotoWire crew (led by Erickson) will be occupying three hours each weekday on Sirius-XM’s new fantasy sports channel.
The move is particularly interesting because it was just about a year ago that Sirius-XM actually ended Erickson’s four-year Fantasy Focus run on XM (the show jumped to BlogTalkRadio’s Fantasy Sports Channel) as part of a decision to dump all daytime fantasy programming.
It would seem that Sirius-XM has since realized that this is a time to get into the fantasy marketplace rather than to leave it — especially if you’re business model relies on a horde of loyal subscribers.
FSB.com will pass along more details as we check in with the principals involved. RotoWire Fantasy Sports Today, by the way, will air from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday on XM 241/Sirius 125.
