Here’s the only T-shirt any righteous fantasy football player should need. Of course, you’d have to point to the sky after each pick.

FSB Daily 9/30: Sports Network, Draft Sharks, Setting N.Y. Sun

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

A roundup of recent posts on the FSB News page.

- The Sports Network has announced the global carriage of NBA content for mobile users via its partnership with Contec. Among other things, the move should be another boon for TSN’s growing presence in China, which has been a prominent emerging NBA market since Yao Ming became a Houston Rocket in 2002.

- Fantasy football content provider DraftSharks.com has launched a redesigned site.

- The New York Sun accomplished enough in its short run to motivate Rep. Anthony Weaver, D-N.Y., to speak about the expiring newspaper on the floor of the U.S. House. Among the Sun’s counter-mainstream sports features was content by several Football Outsiders, most commonly Michael David Smith.

Man Pulls Knife After Poor Fantasy Day

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Hey, I get angry, too, when … say, Ryan Grant goes for just 20 yards on 15 carries … again. (You know, hypothetically, of course.) Some people get a little too worked up, though.

According to the Charlotte (Fla.) Sun-Herald, a 35-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly threatening his roommate with a knife because he was upset by the low scores of his fantasy football team.

When police arrived at the scene, Chester Marcial “Chet” Ward admitted to being angry about his fantasy team, said that he asked his roommate to move out and claimed to have sliced the pages of a book the roommate was reading when the guy ignored him. The roommate, on the other hand, claimed that Ward held the knife to his neck after slicing the book and threatened his life.

Ward’s choice to resist arrest — which included assaulting a police officer and was bad enough to get him Tasered — would seem to lend more credibility to the roommate’s version of events.

There’s no word yet on whether the aggressor is a Derek Anderson owner.

FSB Daily 9/29: LeagueSafe, STATS, Mock Baseball

Monday, September 29th, 2008

A roundup of recent posts on the FSB News page.

- STATS LLC reached a deal with the PGA that makes the company “an official provider of in-progress hole-by-hole results for all PGA Tour, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour events.”

- In a display of just how hard it will be for them to deal with the off-season, some of the guys at Fantasy Baseball Generals have already mocked a draft for 2009. (As I write this, the 2008 regular season still has one game to be finished.)

- LeagueSafe is partnering with Bancorp to in the payout system for leagues that use its fee-collection service.
