While we were out … Upcoming fantasy events

Howdy. FSB.com here. Remember us?

Anyone inside of or familiar with the fantasy sports industry knows that football season (and, really, the several months leading up to it) tends to usher in the busiest portion of the calendar. Regrettably, we here at FSB.com felt the crush of that mighty wave over the past month or so (due, in part, to some new game you might have heard about here) and have been derelict in passing along industry news in the way you’ve come to expect.

Well, now that we’re settling into the hectic NFL schedule a bit, we plan to reconnect with you and the news and information emanating from this exciting, growing industry. That starts today with a couple of events that focus on fantasy sports industry connections.

- The Fantasy Sports Trade Association announced this week that its winter conference will take place in Las Vegas on January 26 and 27. In addition to gathering companies of varying size from around the industry, the winter conference has traditionally also been the event at which the Fantasy Sports Writers Association gives out its awards. The announcement doesn’t mention the FSWA awards, so we’ll let you know if that is changing this time around.

- We’re also just about a month away from the 11th annual Fantasy Sports Association Sports Media and Technology Conference in New York City. Among the featured guests at that gathering of sports media executives will be NBC Sports chairman Dick Ebersol and Kevin Compton, a venture capitalist and co-owner of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks. Registration is still open for the event that takes place Nov. 12 and 13.
